Founding of CSL

Clinical Science Laboratory (CSL), Inc., a Massachusetts corporation, was founded in 1974 and has been servicing the needs of communities, hospitals, criminal justice systems, counseling centers, private laboratories, halfway houses, private physicians and substance abuse programs for over four decades.


We got our start in Sharon, Massachusetts where Dr. Stanley Elfbaum and Dr. Lou Amoruso converted an old farmhouse and barn into a laboratory. With much hard work, not long after, we relocated to our current and always improving facility. Today, we employ more than 80 staff members and operate three shifts per day, seven days a week.

Michael Amoruso

VP Sales and Marketing

Michael has been a dedicated and integral part of Clinical Science Laboratory since 2001. He started working in specimen processing, and his exceptional work ethic and expertise led him to the toxicology department, where he spent several years evaluating and testing specimens. Michael’s contributions were invaluable in implementing the new protocols when Clinical Science pioneered their saliva drug testing program. In 2008, Michael joined the sales and marketing division at CSL, and his passion for the company was evident from the very start. With his extensive background in the lab, Michael is an unparalleled resource who possesses a wealth of knowledge about how a specimen is processed, tested, and reported. He is a go-to expert who can define and explain technical procedures in simple, easy-to-understand terms.
As the Vice President of sales and marketing, Michael is a dynamic leader who thrives on working with clients, visiting their facilities, and representing Clinical Science Laboratory at various conferences. Michael’s unwavering commitment to excellence and his exceptional interpersonal skills have helped to establish Clinical Science Laboratory as a premier provider of laboratory testing services.
When he’s not at work, Michael enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Bailey, son, Jack, and French Bulldog, Dublin.

    Lori O’Neill

    Director of Marketing/National Account Manager

    Lori’s remarkable journey with Clinical Science Laboratory began when she was just a teenager in the office of the original CSL location in Sharon, MA, back in 1982. Since then, Lori has gained extensive practical and technical experience from almost every department of the laboratory. From testing samples in the RIA (radioimmunoassay) department to assisting the Laboratory Director in day-to-day operations, Lori has developed a diverse knowledge and a unique perspective of laboratory operations. Her expertise and experience make her an indispensable member of the CSL team. In 2013, Lori made a seamless transition to CSL’s Sales and Marketing Department, where she now serves as the Marketing Director and National Account Manager. Her creativity and marketing skills are unparalleled. Lori has a natural ability to connect with clients and learn what matters most to them. Her warm and confident demeanor, combined with her exceptional people skills make every client feel like they’re a priority. Representing Clinical Science Lab at professional conferences such as AATOD is Lori’s favorite “work” assignment. She seizes the opportunity to meet clients in person and make connections that feel like greeting old friends rather than business connections. Her confidence and expertise shine through in every interaction. When Lori is not working, she channels her creativity into professional photography and graphic design. She loves spending time with her three kids, hiking with her two dogs, and taking care of her horse. Lori’s confidence and expertise make her a valuable asset to the team at Clinical Science Laboratory.
